Tech Lead

Role Overview

Tech Lead to support Zensurance’s Core and Payments teams. You’ll guide technical direction for iterative, autonomous engineering and help design secure, scalable solutions across both front-end and back-end systems.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders and engineering to design, build, and implement scalable, user-friendly apps and libraries using Node, React, and TypeScript.
• Work with Product Management to break roadmap items into epics and epics into well-sized, actionable tickets.
• Provide technical guidance aligned to organizational objectives within your team’s scope.
• Analyze requirements, identify risks, and recommend solutions based on deep technical expertise.
• Using POCs from Staff Developers, design and implement systems/infrastructure consistent with the team’s vision.
• Apply a security-first approach and adhere to the organization’s security strategy.
• Discuss architecture options and tradeoffs.
• Perform code reviews to ensure PRs match ticket acceptance criteria.
• Use quality metrics to improve and validate the testing strategy; recommend solutions aligned with accepted testing frameworks.
• Manage and optimize third-party integrations (reliability, performance, security).
• Define/prioritize technical debt and bugs based on incident outcomes and drive remediation with the team.

Team Focus

• Core team: powering key goals like adding relevant insurance products with great pricing and delivering insurance documents easily.
• Payments team: improving checkout experience including data confirmation, e-sign, financing, payment collection, and invoicing integrations.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Deep technical expertise to steer engineering direction and manage complex topics clearly.
• Strong ability to design and implement solutions across front-end applications and back-end APIs.
• Ability to mentor and support team members as needed.
• Strong security and scalability mindset.

• Experience leading integration-heavy systems and improving reliability/performance.
• Familiarity with quality metrics, testing frameworks, and incident-driven improvement.
