Tech Lead Software Engineer - Spatial Web

Role Overview

Tech Lead Software Engineer for the PICO Foundation team, building core technologies that enable immersive XR experiences—spanning runtime software, developer SDKs, and game engines.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop solutions to transform the Web into a versatile platform for creating 2D, immersive, and spatial experiences.
• Standardize approaches and propose APIs, influencing industry standards.
• Develop SDKs, frameworks, and tools to improve developer productivity and accelerate ecosystem growth.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize end-to-end performance and deliver scalable solutions.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong web development experience: HTML, CSS, JavaScript and at least one frontend MV* framework such as React, Vue, or Svelte.
• Experience with mobile UI development, including SwiftUI and/or Jetpack Compose.
• Practical understanding of 3D math.
• Hands-on experience with at least one graphics API: Vulkan, OpenGL, or WebGL.
• Cross-platform or native app development experience:
  • React Native, or
  • native with Jetpack Compose (Android) / SwiftUI (iOS).

Preferred Qualifications

• XR experience using OpenXR or WebXR.
• Familiarity with Web3D libraries/frameworks such as Three.js, Babylon.js, and/or React-three-fiber.
• Prior engagement with the Chromium codebase.
• Experience with API design and SDK development.
