Tech Lead Software Engineer - Spatial Web

Role Overview

Tech Lead Software Engineer for the Spatial Web within the PICO Foundation team. The team builds core technologies that enable immersive XR experiences, spanning runtime software, developer SDKs, and game engines.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop solutions to transform the Web into a platform for creating 2D, immersive, and spatial experiences.
• Standardize solutions and propose APIs to influence industry standards.
• Develop SDKs, frameworks, and tools to improve developer productivity and grow the ecosystem.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize end-to-end systems and deliver scalable solutions.

Requirements (Minimum Qualifications)

• Strong web development experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and at least one MV* frontend framework such as React, Vue, or Svelte (also mentions React/HTML/CSS/JS/Vue as examples).
• Strong Mobile UI development experience: SwiftUI and/or Jetpack Compose.
• Good understanding of 3D math and practical experience with at least one graphics API: Vulkan, OpenGL, or WebGL.
• Experience with cross-platform app development using React Native, or native development using Jetpack Compose (Android) and/or SwiftUI (iOS).

Preferred Qualifications

• XR development experience with OpenXR or WebXR.
• Familiarity with Web 3D libraries/frameworks such as Three.js, Babylon.js, or React-three-fiber.
• Experience with the Chromium codebase.
• Experience in API design and SDK development.
