Tech Lead Full-Stack Rails Engineer

Role Overview

Tech Lead Full-Stack Rails Engineer at Mitre Media (remote-first, hybrid in office). You will architect and build LLM-powered web applications on a microservices-based Ruby on Rails 8 platform, partnering with a small, high-impact team and reporting to the CTO.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain Rails applications (Rails 8).
• Integrate LLMs into a microservices architecture for state management and real-time user experiences.
• Enhance front-end experiences using Hotwire/StimulusJS or React for seamless AI-driven interactions.
• Optimize LLM inference for low latency and low cost (caching, asynchronous processing).
• Lead technical direction and contribute to system architecture while delivering production features.
• Use ShapeUp to manage projects with a trade-off between delivery timing and scope.

Required Skills

• Ruby (5+ years, expert-level).
• Ruby on Rails (Rails 6–8 preferred; Rails 8 used).
• PostgreSQL (or MySQL).
• Elasticsearch and Redis.
• Docker.
• Front-end: StimulusJS or JavaScript (ES6).
• Tailwind CSS and HTML/HTTP.
• AI integration experience: integrating LLMs/NLP with web applications.
• Experience with LLM frameworks (LangChain, Hugging Face) and/or APIs (xAI, Anthropic).

Nice-to-Have

• Kubernetes for microservices orchestration.
• React for advanced components.
• Graph databases for complex financial data.
• Contributions to open-source Ruby on Rails or AI projects.
