Tech Lead (Engineering)

Role Overview

Tech Lead (Engineering) responsible for identifying and prioritizing high-impact technical and product problems, designing scalable backend and data systems, and owning architectural decisions across data, services, and system boundaries.

Key Missions

• Identify and prioritize high-impact technical and product problems; make decisions around data and architecture.
• Design and guide scalable backend and data systems; own architectural decisions across system boundaries.
• Lead execution through others, drive alignment across engineers and stakeholders, and ensure technical work drives business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product to ensure engineering execution translates into business outcomes.
• Communicate technical trade-offs clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Delegate effectively and scale impact by leading through influence (not authority).

Requirements

• Strong relational database (SQL) fundamentals, including:
  • Indexing strategies
  • Concurrency control
  • Transactions and isolation levels
  • Query optimization and performance reasoning at the data layer
• Experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Technical leadership through influence: drive alignment, lead through clarity and trust.
• Backend fundamentals and system performance understanding, including:
  • Load balancing, CDNs, and request lifecycle
• Experience with queues/message brokers and async processing.
• Ability to reason about microservices/service boundaries without over-engineering.
• Ability to design end-to-end systems, not only isolated services.

Nice-to-Haves / Additional Focus

• Working knowledge of frontend (React), especially APIs/services and system architecture (UI/design not required).
• OOP and clean design principles.
• Product and business thinking; pragmatic 80/20 decision making aligned to business impact.
