About the role
Role Overview
Systems Security Engineer (Remote) at Belcan working remotely from anywhere in the United States. You will support cyber-physical embedded systems related to engine controls for airborne platforms, helping teams build secure, cyber-resilient product security capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Determine technology and processes needed to meet product security requirements against cyber threats.
- Support implementation of Secure Cyber Resilient Systems (SCRS) for customer programs, including:
- Task planning and requirements development
- Requirements derivation and implementation
- Risk assessments (tools, methods) and product lifecycle deliverables
- Review existing product designs and development plans to identify product security scope gaps and close them to meet contract requirements.
- Develop, communicate, and drive product security best practices across product and design teams.
- Coordinate with the Product Security capability team to improve techniques, policies, procedures, and knowledge for organization-wide adoption.
- Collaborate with customers, clients, supply-chain partners, and industry experts to strengthen product security capability and tools for customer programs.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Bachelor’s degree (Cybersecurity or STEM such as Electrical/Systems/Controls or equivalent) with 6+ years’ experience, or Master’s degree with 4+ years’ experience.
- Knowledge of embedded systems and ability to develop, implement, and secure them.
- Experience applying systems security policies/standards for cyber-physical systems, including:
- NIST SP 800-160
- RMF (Risk Management Framework)
- DO-326
- DoDI 5000.83
- Knowledge of program management lifecycle processes, procedures, and best practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic (hybrid) environment with virtual teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills (verbal and non-verbal).
- Ability to travel periodically up to 25%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with DO-326A and DO-355, plus certification-related project artifact development/execution (including SOI).
- Experience or interest in product security, cybersecurity, and cyber threats.
- Experience with project management concepts such as earned value management, process change management, configuration management, and data analysis.
- Experience with tools such as Sharpcloud and MS Azure DevOps.
- Outcome-focused problem-solving.
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $90,000 to $160,000 (competitive; final offer depends on education, experience, location, and discipline).
