Role Overview

Systems Engineer (Hourly Contract, Remote)

You’ll support sprint-based projects using coding agents to implement and evaluate complex systems engineering work. The contract is remote and runs in 12–24 hour stretches based on project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Complete and evaluate complex systems engineering tasks using coding agents
• Review model-generated code, architecture decisions, and systems implementations
• Identify bugs, edge cases, performance bottlenecks, and system failure modes
• Compare outputs from multiple models and assess strengths/weaknesses
• Apply engineering judgment to real-world systems engineering scenarios

Requirements

• Strong experience in systems engineering
• Strong experience with one or more of:
  • Distributed systems
  • Networking
  • Operating systems
  • Storage systems
  • Infrastructure software
  • Database internals
• Strong experience using coding agents and developer productivity tools
• Ability to evaluate model-generated systems designs and implementations
• Strong experience building highly scalable, performance-critical systems

Contract Details

• Hourly rate: $85/hour
• Typical task economics: ~2–3 hours after ramp-up (typical accepted tasks pay ~ $400)
• Commitment: Sprint-based project; 12–24 hour stretches
