About the role

Role overview

You will join IONOS’ expert team focused on defending against cybersecurity threats. Working closely with SREs and Network Engineers, you will plan, operate, and continuously improve the company’s defense platforms that protect hosting products and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure administration: Administer and troubleshoot highly available, complex distributed infrastructures, including participation in an on-call rotation
Platform optimization: Evolve and optimize distributed DDoS mitigation platforms, including analysis and visualization mechanisms
Threat & trend analysis: Monitor systems, analyze security attacks, and actively track industry/security trends
Tech evaluation & innovation: Assess new technologies/products and develop & implement new features for international setups
DevOps & lifecycle: Support business goals via efficient operations architecture, lifecycle management, and streamlined processes in an agile DevOps environment
CI/CD automation: Design, build, and improve CI/CD pipelines and supporting technical processes

Requirements

Completed degree in Computer Science (or comparable qualification) or vocational training
Multi-year experience administering complex distributed Linux systems
Strong interest in cybersecurity and solid networking knowledge
Proven experience configuring/operating Nginx as a reverse proxy or as a Web Application Firewall (WAF)
Hands-on routing experience with BGP, Flowspec, and Anycast on Linux and network routers
Automation mindset using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, and Python
Strong analytical skills to assess DDoS attacks, implement effective countermeasures, and continuously improve defense platforms

Nice to have

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, ClickHouse, or the ELK stack
Open-source enthusiasm, especially for Linux
German knowledge (English is required)
