About the role

Role Overview

Synon Developer (Remote) to design, develop, and maintain healthcare technology applications using Synon (CA 2E) and COBOL on IBM i (AS/400) platforms.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain healthcare/PBM applications and modules (e.g., claims processing, eligibility, pharmacy)
Support and enhance existing systems
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in batch processing and high-volume transaction environments
Analyze business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions
Participate in system design, code reviews, and performance optimization
Lead technical initiatives and contribute to architectural decisions
Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance
Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and production support teams
Ensure systems meet reliability, scalability, and healthcare compliance requirements

Requirements

Strong development experience with Synon (CA 2E)
Proficiency with COBOL on IBM i (AS/400)
Ability to support/enhance claims/eligibility/pharmacy-style healthcare systems
Experience troubleshooting batch and high-volume transaction processing
Ability to analyze requirements and produce technical solutions
Strong communication and collaboration skills in a remote setting

Nice-to-Haves

Experience with system performance tuning and reliability/scalability engineering
Prior experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring developers
