About the role
Role Overview
The Strategic Analytics Consultant (UM Transformation) is an internal “consultant” who leads high-impact strategic initiatives to optimize programs within a specific business area. The role drives measurable improvements in program effectiveness and resource alignment by turning complex, ad-hoc analyses into actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end strategic projects for program optimization across multiple clinical areas, including scoping, methodologies, deliverables, and timelines.
- Design and execute comprehensive, data-driven analyses to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality of care, and program performance (e.g., trends, outcomes, provider patterns, regulatory impacts).
- Translate analytical insights into actionable recommendations and business cases that support investment and strategic decision-making.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to cross-functional stakeholders (leadership, clinical operations, network, finance, actuarial), proactively identifying analytical needs.
- Identify strategic gaps, emerging challenges, or underperforming program areas; initiate investigations and propose improvements.
- Build quantifiable impact models for proposed strategies and monitor/evaluate effectiveness against defined objectives.
- Mentor more junior analytical staff on complex problem-solving, analytical techniques, and strategic frameworks.
- Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations that communicate clear strategic narratives.
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive experience in strategic consulting, healthcare analytics, or a similar high-impact role.
- Demonstrated record of leading complex analytical projects and translating insights into actionable business strategies with measurable outcomes.
Preferred
- 3 years of experience leveraging advanced technology for operational improvement, automation, and unit cost reduction.
Skills & Qualifications
- Exceptional strategic problem-solving and critical thinking; ability to frame ambiguous problems and propose innovative solutions.
- Expert analytical and modeling skills, especially advanced Microsoft Excel (data manipulation, statistical analysis, scenario modeling, financial impact assessment).
- Plus: experience with SQL, Python, R, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Deep acumen in health plan operations, P&L dynamics, value-based care models, and key program levers.
- Strong project leadership, ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines.
- Strong influence and stakeholder management.
