Store Construction Project Manager-REMOTE - CONTRACT

Role Overview

Store Construction Project Manager (REMOTE - CONTRACT) at Designer Brands. This hands-on, fast-paced role manages the full lifecycle of store construction projects—from early drawings through final walkthroughs—ensuring spaces align with brand standards and support teams and customers.

Responsibilities

• Project Leadership & Planning
  • Lead competitive bidding, including contractor evaluation, bid review/analysis, and award recommendations
  • Review and validate construction drawings for accuracy, completeness, brand alignment, and scope consistency
  • Manage construction administration tasks:
    • Respond to RFIs
    • Review/approve updates and submissions
    • Coordinate materials and delivery schedules
    • Maintain up-to-date project timelines
    • Review/approve pay applications, change orders, and budget impacts/adjustments
• On-Site Management & Quality Control
  • Conduct site visits to assess build quality, milestone progress, and contractor performance
  • Create and manage punch lists to ensure timely completion
  • Oversee project close-out documentation and handoff
  • Travel up to 30% to support construction across regions
• Communication & Collaboration
  • Maintain clear communication with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and design teams
  • Facilitate/participate in weekly construction and scheduling meetings and weekly project calls
  • Provide proactive updates with risk mitigation and solution-oriented recommendations

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience as an Intern/Project Manager/Project Engineer (recent graduates of a construction management program may also be considered)
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (education section appears truncated in the posting)
• Strong skills in:

  • Organization and managing multiple projects

  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
