Staff Technical Program Manager (ML/AI Platform)

Role Overview

Pinterest is hiring a Staff Technical Program Manager (ML/AI Platform) (full remote). You’ll lead cross-engineering, strategic programs focused on ML/AI platform initiatives, translating strategy into end-to-end execution with an AI-first and safety-by-design mindset.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead strategic ML/AI platform programs: identify, scope, champion, and deliver high-impact, cross-engineering initiatives.
• Drive complex technical decisions across teams by partnering with technical domain owners to frame and resolve cross-team technical tradeoffs.
• Build scalable processes & best practices: define, institutionalize, and continuously improve TPM processes, frameworks, and tooling.
• Prototype and operationalize AI-augmented tools (e.g., low-toil mechanisms) to improve program planning and execution.
• Ensure safety-by-design AI governance: support risk assessment, sensitive data handling, model output validation, and auditability.
• Drive cross-functional alignment: communicate effectively, influence stakeholders, and own program outcomes end-to-end.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in technical program management (or equivalent).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Working understanding of Machine Learning and systems engineering principles.
• Comfort operating within AI governance expectations (risk assessment, data handling, output validation, auditability).
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior/executive leadership and represent program interests.

Nice-to-Haves / Helpful Experience

• Familiarity with GenAI/LLM serving and inference, LLM/agent architectures, DevOps, and systems engineering.
• Experience turning repeatable program work into durable, low-toil mechanisms (scripts/tools, dashboards, prompting).
• Ability to use GenAI to accelerate planning/operations/communication while validating and refining outputs with strong judgment.
