Role Overview

Staff Software Engineer, Websites at Toast. Join the Websites team to build and scale product experiences for restaurants and their guests, integrated with Online Ordering. This role is hands-on and product-oriented, helping shape both technical execution and product/business strategy.

Responsibilities

Design, scope, and implement cutting-edge solutions across the stack
Raise the bar for quality, performance, usability, and scalability of the Websites product
Collaborate with Design and Product stakeholders to pursue product-market fit
Drive discovery of high-impact opportunities and deliver them with your team
Work across teams to ensure the end-to-end product ecosystem works seamlessly
Run experiments and iterate quickly to improve the online ordering and websites experiences
Convert high-fidelity UX from Figma into production-ready features

Requirements

8+ years building full-stack web applications
Backend: Java/Kotlin and Node.js
Frontend: React or Angular, plus CSS and CSS frameworks like Tailwind or Bootstrap
Cloud/infra: build on AWS, using Docker and Git
Ability to design databases and scalable architectures
Strong engineering fundamentals: testable code, API design, unit/integration testing
Comfort working in a collaborative environment shipping features together
Agile mindset: ship quickly, iterate, refine
Experience using AI tools to improve productivity and output
