Staff Software Engineer, Video Platform - Fandango at Home

Role Overview

Staff Software Engineer for the Video Platform within Fandango at Home. You will serve as a technical leader owning critical systems for identity management and eCommerce—where platform reliability, security, and revenue generation intersect.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of scalable IAM (identity & access management) and eCommerce systems.
• Architect and implement secure authentication flows and payment processing lifecycles with accuracy and compliance.
• Diagnose and resolve complex incidents across the identity and purchase funnel, minimizing service disruption.
• Drive performance optimization across distributed systems (databases, caching, microservices).
• Partner cross-functionally to assess technical trade-offs, communicate risks, and influence platform direction.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating high-scale distributed systems.
• Expert-level Java with strong knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and build tooling (e.g., Gradle).
• Advanced SQL expertise (e.g., MySQL/Aurora) with focus on transaction integrity and performance tuning.
• Experience with NoSQL for caching/distributed data use cases.
• Strong knowledge of authentication protocols: OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, JWT.
• Deep understanding of payment processing lifecycles: authorizations, captures, refunds and compliance considerations.
• Exceptional troubleshooting across microservices, databases, and network layers; accountable incident resolution.
• Ability to clearly articulate architecture decisions, technical debt, and post-mortem insights.

Nice to Have

• Full-stack experience across backend, frontend, and cloud infrastructure.
• Real-time data systems such as Kafka and caching technologies like Redis.
