Staff Software Engineer

Role Overview

Join Vetcove as a Staff Software Engineer. You will own major product areas that help veterinary clinics streamline operations and deliver exceptional patient care. This fully remote role involves leading architecture and delivery across web and mobile, influencing the product roadmap, and working across the stack.

Key Missions / Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture, and delivery of complex initiatives across web and mobile platforms, maintaining high quality and strong test coverage.
• Build and enhance React and React Native applications used by tens of thousands of veterinary professionals.
• Develop scalable components and architectural patterns.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance; influence engineering direction across multiple teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive product outcomes.

Requirements

• Strong commitment to writing well-tested, maintainable, reliable code.
• Excellent communication skills; able to clearly convey complex ideas.
• Bachelor’s degree required (ideally Computer Science or related).
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of complex, production-grade systems.
• Proven ability to design scalable systems, including APIs and data models.
• Deep expertise in at least one modern programming language and strong experience with modern web frameworks.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and React, including architecting large-scale front-end applications.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and evolving environments.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and lead technical decision-making.
• Solid experience with relational databases and query optimization.

Nice to Have

• Experience delivering tools managing high-volume transaction workflows and/or data-intensive systems (implied by role scope).
