Role Overview

Staff Software Engineer, Product (remote, Florianópolis)

You’ll serve as the engineering anchor for an initiative within a small product engineering team (PM + designer + Engineering Manager support). You own technical decisions and end-to-end delivery, with AI coding agents acting as a force multiplier while you maintain a staff-level quality bar.

Responsibilities

• Act as the engineering anchor for an initiative across the full lifecycle: problem framing → technical approach → implementation (often agent-assisted) → production shipping → post-launch metric review.
• Define and own the technical approach, including:
  • Architecture
  • Data model
  • Integration choices
  • Rollout plan
  • Observability and rollback strategy
• Ensure implementation quality for both agent-authored and hand-written code:
  • Prompts, guardrails, evals, tests, and review loop
• Partner closely with product and design:
  • Daily working contact with PM (scope and tradeoffs)
  • Collaboration with designer (UX decisions and prototyping)
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering peers and regular check-ins with the Engineering Manager.
• Drive initiative outcomes by impact on the relevant metric (measured by results, not code volume).

Requirements

• Staff-level engineering judgment and ownership of technical decisions and outcomes.
• Ability to ship production-ready software with attention to:
  • Correctness
  • Security
  • Performance
  • Observability
• Experience ensuring AI-assisted development still meets a high engineering bar (via guardrails, evals, tests, and review).

Nice-to-Haves (implied)

• Experience working in initiative-based teams with PM/design.
• Comfort with AI coding agents in production engineering workflows.
• Strong architecture decision-making with willingness to document and revisit decisions based on data.
