Staff Software Engineer (Platform)

Role Overview

Staff Software Engineer on the Platform team at Zus Health. You’ll build and operate core platform capabilities—especially data services and APIs—while partnering with product managers and internal users.

Key Missions / Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers and internal users to ensure the platform meets customer needs.
• Provide technical leadership: contribute to the architecture and design of the team’s systems.
• Build and operate data services that power applications and APIs.
• Coach and help other engineers improve.

What You’ll Work On

• Processing, storing, and delivering health records at scale.
• Designing for low latency and high availability.
• Building backend services in Go.
• Working with healthcare data and standards (e.g., FHIR and/or TEFCA).

Requirements

• Experience building operationally stable, scalable, and cost-efficient data services.
• Enjoy owning work and ensuring safe deployment to production.
• Ability to operate in a growing startup environment and learn quickly.
• Experience building and running large-scale cloud systems in Go.
• Experience with AWS DynamoDB.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks.
• Experience with at least one of:
  • Deployment technologies (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, etc.)
  • Cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
• Knowledgeable about application security.
• Experience working with healthcare data and APIs.

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with FHIR and/or TEFCA standards.

Location / Remote Policy

• Boston metro with willingness for hybrid collaboration, or
• Remote in EST/CST, with occasional travel for in-person collaboration.
