Staff+ Software Engineer, Platform Connectivity

Role overview

Staff+ Software Engineer on the Platform Connectivity team at Anthropic. You will help make Claude the most connected AI by designing connectivity infrastructure that enables secure, enterprise-trustworthy access to external systems.

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and operate core connectivity infrastructure for external tool calls:
  • MCP proxy
  • OAuth and token management for authenticated connections
• Own reliability for infrastructure other teams and partners depend on, including:
  • SLOs, on-call, incident response, and postmortems
• Build admin controls and permission models so enterprise IT can govern what agents can do
• Contribute to the MCP standard and its ecosystem, including the official Python and TypeScript SDKs
• Scope complex, multi-month projects independently and drive cross-org alignment
• Partner with research to productize capabilities and dogfood what you ship across products

Requirements

• Experience as a backend or platform engineer
• Familiarity with using AI tools in the software development process
• Product-focused mindset for building robust, scalable, easy-to-use platform solutions
• Strong ownership from design through build, deployment, operations, and iteration
• Ability to operate in ambiguity and make sound technical decisions independently
• Experience operating production distributed systems with an understanding of reliability, observability, and incident response at scale
• Excellent communication skills; ability to build consensus across teams and time zones

Nice to have

• Experience operating in both 0 → 1 and more mature settings
