Staff Software Engineer - Mobile Applications (Remote)

Role Overview

Staff Software Engineer for the Home Depot mobile shopping app. You will be the technical leader for a mobile engineering team, partnering with Engineering, Product, and Principal Engineering to design, deliver, and evolve scalable mobile applications.

Responsibilities

• Technical ownership & architecture for the team’s product domain, including:
  • Application modularization
  • Component interactions
  • API contracts
  • Integration patterns
• Drive delivery for complex initiatives while balancing:
  • Maintainability, performance, and reliability
• Architecture leadership by running architecture discussions and establishing engineering best practices
• Mentor engineers across experience levels and provide guidance on modern software development
• Quality & release enablement:
  • Develop and maintain software
  • Build test suites (functional, destructive, etc.) to enable rapid production deployments
• Plan & align with product:
  • Ensure user stories are developer-ready, easy to understand, and testable
  • Collaborate in agile processes
• Support and enable teams:
  • Field questions from product and engineering teams
  • Identify team gaps and recommend improvements to increase productivity

Requirements

• 18+ years of age and legally permitted to work in the United States
• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Proven track record architecting and delivering large-scale, customer-facing mobile applications
• Ability to lead technical direction for complex, cross-team initiatives (architecture, technical strategy, legacy modernization, refactoring)
• Experience navigating ambiguous technical challenges, evaluating tradeoffs, and driving scalable solutions from concept to production
• Deep expertise in native mobile development (architecture, design patterns, performance optimization, networking, security, best practices)

Nice to Have

• Experience with modern cross-platform technologies and architectures (posting indicates React Native, though the text is truncated).
