Role overview

Staff Software Engineer (Growth) at Hims & Hers (remote-first). You will lead complex engineering projects, mentor talent, and collaborate cross-functionally to improve user acquisition, retention, and customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex engineering projects and deliver high-impact solutions for Growth.
• Drive front-end excellence: build fast, accessible, visually polished experiences aligned to the brand.
• Champion UI performance, accessibility, and responsiveness, and define measurable standards.
• Serve as the accountable technical leader for key systems; make principled technical decisions.
• Raise the bar on code quality and engineering standards across teams.
• Apply operational excellence practices (observability, incident response, reliability engineering, risk mitigation).
• Align engineering work with product and business goals, influencing roadmap priorities with long-term scalability.
• Lead cross-team initiatives and influence stakeholders without direct authority.

Requirements

• 12+ years shipping production software.
• Deep architectural expertise designing scalable, resilient, maintainable systems.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; able to influence a broad range of stakeholders.
• Proven record of leading complex projects and cross-team delivery.
• Operational excellence experience: observability, incident response, reliability engineering, and risk mitigation.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects without management oversight and thrive in ambiguity.
• Proficiency in modern frontend frameworks and backend technologies, including React, Next.js, GraphQL, Node.js, and Python.

• Experience introducing new architecture/design concepts, coaching/adoption, and executing within an organization’s strategies.
