Staff Software Engineer Full Stack

Role Overview

Staff Software Engineer (Full Stack) to serve as a technical anchor on Ternary’s core platform.

Responsibilities

• Drive architectural decisions that determine how the platform scales for enterprise finance and engineering buyers
• Lead critical, large-scale, complex projects end-to-end (planning, design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, adoption, and performance)
• Contribute across the stack with core focus on:
  • API design
  • BigQuery and modern data warehousing
  • React/TypeScript front-end development
• Make informed tradeoffs balancing long-term scalability with immediate business needs
• Own the platform architecture and web application layer quality bar
• Provide technical feedback (spec reviews, recommendations) and mentor junior engineers

Requirements

• 10+ years delivering scalable web applications and platform services across early-stage and enterprise environments
• Expertise designing/implementing data and analytics platforms, including BigQuery, large-scale data warehousing, and analytics/product-insight pipelines
• Experience building backend services in Go (Golang)
• Ability to quickly ramp up in new areas and learn proactively
• Bias for action: address ambiguity and hard conversations directly
• Experience working with customers and business leads
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills; considers business lenses and technical tradeoffs

Nice to Have / Helpful Context

• Familiarity across the stack, including React, TypeScript, Node.js, Go, BigQuery, and PostgreSQL
• Working familiarity with relational and non-relational databases, authentication, and CI/CD
