Staff Software Engineer (Full Stack)

Role overview

Join SmarterDx as a Staff Software Engineer (Full Stack) to advance the use of clinical AI. You will design, build, and launch multi-product features, improve overall app quality, and collaborate across disciplines to understand users and iterate on ideas.

• Work split: 50% frontend / 50% backend
• Production support: support SmarterDx apps in production
• Remote-first with benefits (401k, One Medical, parental leave, medical/dental/vision)

Key missions

• Design, build, and launch new multi-product features
• Improve application quality across SmarterDx apps
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user needs and iterate on ideas
• Research and advocate for improved techniques, processes, and design approaches within the team

Responsibilities / profile expectations

• Partner with Product Managers and subject matter experts to turn complex requirements into incremental, valuable plans
• Work effectively in a security-conscious environment
• Project manage a small team using a modern Agile methodology
• Define requirements with product stakeholders into small incremental business-valuable deliverables
• Deliver user-facing solutions with strong UI/UX execution

Requirements

• 12+ years software engineering experience with focus on user-facing solutions
• Expertise in TypeScript, React, and Python
• Experience designing and building information-dense user interfaces
• 3+ years in a security-conscious environment
• Experience aiding decision-making via data visualization, data analytics, or configurable workflows/simulations
• Bachelor’s/Master’s in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with health tech and clinical software
• Former startup founder or first engineering hire experience
• Experience with Kubernetes
