Role overview

Staff Software Engineer (Front-End) at Emerald Cloud Lab. You will help build and evolve the ECL Command Center and related internal web applications that support end-to-end research workflows. The role is highly product- and UX-adjacent, working closely with the Design team, and involves strong ownership as part of a small engineering team.

Responsibilities

Develop and lead feature work for the ECL Command Center and internal web applications
Own projects end-to-end, taking initiative in a small team environment
Collaborate closely with Design to deliver user-focused experiences
Contribute to engineering practices (e.g., process improvements, performance multipliers)
Work on frontend UX technologies (React/Redux) and determine the right tools for the job

Requirements

10+ years of experience in website development
Demonstrated technical leadership experience
BS and/or graduate degree in computer science (or equivalent experience)
Proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript
Familiarity with React and Redux (or equivalent frontend frameworks)

Preferred qualifications

Experience pushing the bounds of client-side web development to create unique user experiences
Experience with Electron
Strong problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments with frequent releases
Excellent written communication and documentation
Experience partnering closely with creative/design teams
Experience with testing tools/frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Percy, Storybook, Chromatic)
Strong attention to detail and a focus on beautiful, friendly user interactions
