About the role
Role overview
Staff Software Engineer (Front-End) at Emerald Cloud Lab. You will help build and evolve the ECL Command Center and related internal web applications that support end-to-end research workflows. The role is highly product- and UX-adjacent, working closely with the Design team, and involves strong ownership as part of a small engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead feature work for the ECL Command Center and internal web applications
- Own projects end-to-end, taking initiative in a small team environment
- Collaborate closely with Design to deliver user-focused experiences
- Contribute to engineering practices (e.g., process improvements, performance multipliers)
- Work on frontend UX technologies (React/Redux) and determine the right tools for the job
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in website development
- Demonstrated technical leadership experience
- BS and/or graduate degree in computer science (or equivalent experience)
- Proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript
- Familiarity with React and Redux (or equivalent frontend frameworks)
Preferred qualifications
- Experience pushing the bounds of client-side web development to create unique user experiences
- Experience with Electron
- Strong problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments with frequent releases
- Excellent written communication and documentation
- Experience partnering closely with creative/design teams
- Experience with testing tools/frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Percy, Storybook, Chromatic)
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on beautiful, friendly user interactions
