About the role

Role Overview

Staff Software Engineer is a pivotal technical leadership role within Forward Financing’s engineering teams, with a strong focus on frontend systems. You’ll own the design and implementation of highly complex, cross-domain systems and set technical direction, raising the bar for quality, patterns, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Architectural Influence: Lead the design and implementation of significant cross-functional systems requiring alignment across multiple engineering teams.
Technical Leadership: Act as the subject matter expert for the frontend software ecosystem, guiding architectural integrity and best practices.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Drive complex initiatives across teams, resolve technical challenges, and help address technical debt.
Mentorship & Elevation: Mentor engineers (including junior engineers), improve engineering quality and efficiency, and sponsor team growth.
Problem Solving: Address technical debt and promptly resolve incidents and bugs.

Requirements

8+ years of experience in technical leadership, mentorship, and sponsorship.
Deep expertise designing and implementing frontend systems and scalable architectures across multiple applications and/or languages.
Strong ability to influence others and lead cross-functional work.
Full-stack perspective, especially how backend services affect the end-user experience.
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science (or related field), or equivalent relevant experience.
