Staff Software Engineer

Role Overview

Join Domino Data Lab’s Model Development Lifecycle Team as a Staff Software Engineer. You’ll help build a platform that streamlines the full ML journey—from development to training, deployment, and ongoing management.

Key Missions

• Integrate model monitoring to provide a holistic view of deployment health and performance.
• Enhance tagging capabilities across Domino entities to improve discoverability and tracking.
• Expand LLM hosting capabilities to meet customer needs for scale, performance, and logging.
• Innovate within the Domino Apps offering.

Responsibilities / What You’ll Work On

• Build and evolve back-end services supporting ML lifecycle workflows.
• Design and implement secure, scalable APIs (e.g., REST and gRPC).
• Improve system performance and reliability in cloud and containerized environments.
• Contribute to testing strategy (unit/integration/end-to-end) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate back-end systems with front-end interfaces and third-party services.

Requirements

• Strong back-end development experience with Python, Java, Scala, or Go.
• Experience with ML model deployment concepts such as model registries, versioning, and lifecycle management tools.
• Hands-on with testing and CI/CD pipeline development.
• Ability to profile and optimize back-end performance, especially in cloud environments.
• Experience building scalable distributed back-end systems.
• Designing and implementing secure, scalable APIs (RESTful APIs, gRPC).
• Proficiency with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience working in environments that use containers such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with MLflow or Kubeflow.
• Experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Azure ML, or SageMaker.
