About the role

Role Overview

Circle is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to extend its in-house blockchain systems infrastructure to support large-scale tokenization and payments across multiple protocols.

Responsibilities

Analyze requirements, procedures, and problems to improve existing systems and modify infrastructure.
Build and own scalable microservices providing reliable and secure APIs for transferring value and assets across:
- blockchain protocols
- traditional banking protocols
Partner with Product and Engineering to design, test, and shape product features.
Develop and document system design procedures, testing procedures, and quality standards.
Troubleshoot system malfunctions to restore normal operation.
Build publicly accessible APIs to help developers integrate with complex payment systems.
Integrate Platform Services with leading banks and financial technologies.
Advise management on system principles and architectural direction.
Implement infrastructure for great payment experiences, including:
- data sources (SQL or NoSQL)
- messaging systems
- APIs

Requirements

7+ years professional software development in object-oriented languages such as Go or Java.
Computer Science (or closely related) degree (or equivalent).
Technical leadership of teams (>4) on architecture and system design.
Expert in one domain: API design, payments processing, or blockchain.
Strong experience in:
- production architecture, design, and deployment
- Web3/blockchain and smart contract business logic
- RESTful API design and development
- Cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure)
- container orchestration (Kubernetes or EKS/ECS)
- SQL and schema design
Strong focus on coding standards and quality with desire for test coverage to support continuous delivery.
Excellent communication and ability to collaborate with remote teams.
Self-starter who enjoys fast-paced shipping with minimal supervision.

Compensation

Base pay range: $195,000 – $257,500 (varies by location and other factors).
