Staff Software Engineer

Role Overview

Join AlphaSense as a Staff Software Engineer in the Reference and Entity Data Systems (REDS) department. You will design and evolve an entity data platform that ingests company data from global vendors, resolves it into authoritative entity records, and delivers accurate, timely data to downstream teams and customers.

Key Missions

• Reduce reliance on human validation by improving correctness, confidence, and trust without sacrificing speed or scale
• Own architecture and evolution for a major domain within the entity data platform

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end engineering ownership from data integration through entity generation to operational readiness
• Build systems that combine distributed systems, entity resolution, data quality, and AI-assisted decision-making
• Deliver improvements in reliability, observability, and incident response that have lasting impact
• Set standards, drive technical decisions, and elevate peers through documentation and mentoring

Requirements

• Proven experience with data ingestion, entity resolution, matching, or normalization at scale
• Strong code, system design, and architecture pattern skills
• Cloud-native architectures and internal platform experience (preferred)
• 8+ years building and operating large-scale production systems
• Effective use of AI, testing, automation, and tooling to ship confidently
• Deep expertise in one or more areas: distributed systems, data pipelines, reference data platforms, platform engineering, or AI-powered classification/validation
• Ability to design trustworthy systems combining probabilistic (AI) and deterministic approaches

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with company/financial reference data or vendor reconciliation
• Provenance, lineage, confidence-scoring, and/or quarantine/resolution workflows
• Integrating new data vendors end to end
