About the role

Role Overview

Join Alteryx as a Staff Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET). You will lead quality engineering excellence across engineering organizations by building scalable test automation frameworks, mentoring engineers, and partnering with development, DevOps, and quality teams to improve reliability and performance.

Key Missions

Design, implement, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks and libraries
Collaborate with development, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver robust systems
Mentor and coach SDETs and developers on:
- test design patterns
- coding standards
- effective test strategies
Drive adoption of modern test practices, including AI-assisted tooling

Responsibilities

Own and evolve shared test infrastructure and automation capabilities
Improve test automation maturity across teams
Partner with DevOps to ensure test systems fit CI/CD and runtime workflows
Support non-functional quality needs (e.g., reliability, performance)

Requirements

Deep experience with test automation frameworks: Playwright, Selenium, TestCafe, or similar
10+ years as a Software Engineer, Senior SDET, or Senior QA Automation Engineer
Strong testing experience for REST APIs, microservices, and web applications
Proven expertise with cloud-hosted systems on AWS, Azure, or GCP
Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript, or Java
Experience building/managing test infrastructure in GCP/GKE
Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical improvements across teams
Experience integrating AI-assisted tools into development/test workflows
Solid understanding of CI/CD and DevOps workflows including GitLab Pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes
Expertise with shift-left testing tooling (e.g., Signadot/mirrord, ephemeral environments, scaled test runners)
Experience contributing to shared testing libraries or open-source frameworks

Nice-to-Haves

Familiarity with data systems, ETL, or analytics platforms
Knowledge of non-functional testing (performance, security, reliability, accessibility, localization)
