Role overview

As a Staff Software Developer (Services) at Slice, you will design and launch innovative backend features that help restaurant partners run more effectively. You’ll work with a small, agile team, taking ownership of initiatives from concept to production, and ensuring service quality and performance at scale.

Responsibilities

Design, code, and launch new backend features for restaurant partners
Identify technical opportunities that deliver disproportionate value
Own end-to-end projects in close collaboration with Product and Design teams
Ensure backend quality, reliability, and performance at scale
Collaborate effectively with a distributed team, communicating asynchronously

Requirements

Bold, founder-like engineering mindset; challenge the status quo
Strong product & customer focus and ability to articulate opinions on product direction
Creative problem-solving; experiment, adapt, and iterate
Owner’s mindset with urgency and end-to-end ownership
Proven experience building scalable backend systems in Python (Flask)
Experience with databases and cloud services
Ability to dive into monitoring and logging tools
Technology-agnostic: can quickly learn new languages/frameworks as needed

Nice to have

Experience with other languages/frameworks such as Go or Ruby
