About the role

Role overview

As a Staff / Senior Staff Software Engineer at Equilibrium Energy, you’ll help deliver software systems across multiple technical domains (cloud infrastructure, data engineering, ML engineering, and application development). You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute the company’s ML/AI product roadmap and contribute to technical strategy and planning.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deliver, and support software systems across the technical stack.
  • Contribute to product development strategy, including design, planning, and productivity improvements.
  • Partner with engineers, researchers, and product leaders to design, build, and ship code.
  • Build software that supports ML and AI pipelines, including associated data structures.
  • Communicate analysis results to influence product, engineering, and leadership decisions.

Requirements

  • BS/Master’s in a quantitative discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience developing in Python, Go, Julia, C, or Rust.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Go, Python, C, Rust, or Julia.
  • Experience with ML/AI pipeline software and data structures.
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools like Temporal.
  • Advanced experience with data engineering tools and ecosystems (e.g., ELT, streaming, pub-sub, relational DBs, object DBs, GraphDBs).
  • Strong collaboration skills and a collaboration-first mindset.
  • Ability to translate product specs into organized code.

Nice to have

  • PhD in a quantitative discipline.
  • Deep expertise in one or more stack domains, such as:
    • cloud infrastructure
    • data platform and engineering
    • IoT
    • MLOps and ML pipelines
    • simulation ecosystems
    • workflow/microservices orchestration
    • application development
  • Experience supporting and releasing ML/AI models for operational workflows (e.g., frequent inference generation).
