Role overview
Staff Product Manager for Datastores (PostgreSQL specialist) at Render. You’ll own the vision and roadmap for Render’s datastores portfolio, with a primary focus on Render Postgres, and help define the technical direction of the company’s data layer.
Key missions
- Define and execute the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the datastores portfolio, emphasizing Postgres.
- Lead technical and strategic direction for Render Postgres and the broader data layer.
- Partner closely with engineering and other product teams to shape the technical roadmap for the data platform.
Requirements
- Proven ability to turn ambiguous, high-stakes reliability and infrastructure problems into clear strategy and shipped outcomes.
- 7+ years in Product Management, with most experience in databases, data infrastructure, developer tools, or platform products.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, including:
- architecture and operational model
- ecosystem
- tradeoffs involved in production operation.
Nice-to-haves
- Perspective on how agentic workloads and AI-native applications are changing database usage patterns.
- Deep developer empathy and enough technical depth to make solid architectural tradeoffs with engineering.
- Hands-on experience with Postgres internals, replication tooling, or extension ecosystem such as pgvector and PostGIS.
- Experience as a database engineer/DBA/infrastructure engineer.
- Experience building AI agents or the data infrastructure that powers them.
