Staff Product Manager (AI Agent Orchestration)

Role overview

Join GitLab as a Staff Product Manager for the AI Agent Orchestration Platform. You’ll define the product direction for foundational agent capabilities—such as agent context, agent memory, background agents, and orchestration workflows—and translate complex AI platform needs into clear product strategy, requirements, and roadmap decisions.

Key missions

• Define and drive the product strategy for GitLab’s AI agent orchestration platform, focusing on core capabilities that enable agentic workflows.
• Partner closely with Engineering and Design to identify product opportunities, prioritize platform investments, and guide execution from concept to delivery.
• Convert complex technical areas (e.g., agent context, agent memory, and background agent behavior) into clear product requirements and roadmap decisions.

Requirements

• Prior agentic AI product management experience, with strong familiarity in AI orchestration, agent memory, agent context, and related platform concepts.
• Deep product management experience owning complex technical products/platforms from early definition through iteration and delivery.
• Strong, structured approach to product discovery, prioritization, and decision-making.
• Ability to think strategically about platform design while staying close to execution details impacting product quality and usability.
• Excellent product judgment in ambiguous, fast-evolving spaces where patterns and requirements are still emerging.
• Strong communication skills; able to clearly explain technical AI concepts to a wide range of stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, adapt decisions as AI capabilities evolve, and stay current with AI landscape changes.
• Proven ability to partner with technical teams to shape platform products and translate sophisticated system behavior into actionable priorities and requirements.

• Experience in managing or shaping platform capabilities as AI behaviors and requirements evolve rapidly (implicit in the role expectations).
