Staff Product Engineer (Mexico City)

Role Overview

Staff Product Engineer (remote, Mexico City) at LawnStarter. You lead a product initiative end-to-end as the engineering anchor, partnering closely with a PM and designer in small, initiative-based teams.

What You’ll Own

• Technical approach: architecture, data model, integration choices, rollout plan, observability, and rollback strategy.
• Implementation quality for AI agent workflows: prompts, guardrails, evals, tests, and review loops that enable safe, correct, production-ready code.
• Cross-functional partnership: daily collaboration with your PM and designer; regular coordination with engineering peers; weekly check-ins with your Engineering Manager.
• Initiative outcome: own the metric the initiative is set up to move, including presenting results 2–4 weeks post-launch.

Responsibilities / How You Work

• Shape the problem and help decide the technical approach.
• Direct AI coding agents to implement much of the code; write careful code yourself when needed in sensitive areas.
• Ship to production and own the post-launch metric review.
• Make most technical decisions yourself with architect review on significant architectural changes.

• Staff-level depth of engineering judgment and ability to own architecture and rollout strategy.
• Strong quality focus: production correctness, security, performance, observability, and customer/pro on-the-ground experience.
• Ability to operate effectively with AI coding agents while maintaining a high safety and quality bar.
• Demonstrated product partnership: working with PM/design to make tradeoffs and measure impact.
