About the role
Role Overview
Staff Product Designer at Headspace, owning design execution and contributing to design strategy across high-impact product surfaces. The role involves significant autonomy, evidence-based thinking, and elevating design craft across the team.
Responsibilities
- Own design execution and contribute to design strategy across complex product areas, setting a high bar for interaction quality and member experience.
- Drive design vision across multi-quarter timelines by partnering with Product, Engineering, and Research and embedding design thinking early.
- Influence roadmap and product strategy with evidence-based design rationale.
- Lead and conduct design research, including:
- generative studies
- contextual inquiry
- concept testing
- usability evaluations
- Apply behavioral design to support habit formation, reduce friction, and increase meaningful engagement with mental health content and care.
- Use AI fluency throughout the process with AI-powered tools for prototyping, research synthesis, and rapid iteration.
- Mentor and support designers through reviews, knowledge sharing, and helping set up conditions for strong team performance.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, researchers, content creators, brand designers, and clinical experts.
Requirements
- 6+ years designing human-centered, thoughtful products.
- Strong visual design craft with a portfolio demonstrating high-impact, polished work and solid understanding of motion design principles.
- Demonstrated AI fluency using AI tools (e.g., Claude, Figma Make, Cursor) and experience designing AI-powered experiences that feel natural, trustworthy, and human-centered.
- Strong knowledge of iOS and Android patterns, behaviors, and interface standards.
- Proficiency in Figma and prototyping tools to communicate complex design ideas clearly.
- Experience designing accessible digital product interfaces with a focus on seamless, engaging experiences.
- Ability to turn ambiguous problems into actionable solutions.
- Proven ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and align design decisions with broader goals.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and promote growth within the design team.
