About the role
Role Overview
Join Docker as a Staff Product Designer (Admin) on the Admin Platform. You will design the surfaces that help organizations manage and control how they use Docker, and you will own the end-to-end design for the Admin experience across Docker product surfaces.
Key Missions
- Own end-to-end design for the Admin Platform, including settings, identity and access management (IAM), billing, and policy surfaces.
- Identify UX debt in the administrative domain and incorporate it into the product roadmap.
- Ensure overall end-to-end experience quality, not only the next sprint.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to set a shared design direction for how Docker serves its administrators.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with engineering and product management, plus other stakeholders (including sales, security, and legal).
- Mentor junior designers and help shape Docker’s design practice.
- Lead cross-surface design to keep the experience coherent as the product grows.
Requirements
- Experience mentoring/coaching product designers.
- Strong prototyping and ability to iterate with an “early thinking” approach.
- Solid command of qualitative and quantitative research; ability to synthesize evidence from sources such as telemetry, support, qualitative research, and sales conversations.
- Experience designing cross-product systems (not only individual screens).
- Ability to form strong, informed opinions in new technical domains (e.g., AI tooling, containerized environments).
- Deep familiarity with developer tools/infrastructure products and the developer context.
- Proven track record designing admin/settings/operations surfaces: IAM, billing, policy management, audit & compliance UIs, org management, or similar.
- Systems thinking and empathy for administrators as accountable decision-makers.
Nice-to-haves
- An AI-forward design process (meaningfully integrating tooling into how you work).
