About the role

Role Overview

Join Airbnb’s Payments organization as a Staff Platform Manager (Chargebacks and Disputes) within the Payments Risk and Compliance domain. You will own post-transaction product strategy and drive the evolution of Airbnb’s dispute resolution capabilities, balancing loss reduction with community trust and marketplace integrity.

Responsibilities

Own and evolve the product roadmap for dispute lifecycle management, including:
- Chargeback ingestion
- Representment decisioning
- Pre-arbitration
Lead the transition from chargeback representment to holistic dispute resolution by building:
- Systems and workflows
- Decisioning logic
- Guest-facing interventions that reduce net losses
Partner with Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, and Operations to:
- Improve dispute decisioning models
- Build product optimizations by processor, reason code, and product vertical

Requirements

10+ years building payments, Payments Risk, or related risk products in a product management role within global technology or financial services
Experience leading complex, cross-functional projects using ML, operations, and external vendor signals
Strong technical background (experience as an engineer, data scientist, analyst, or operations)
Payments risk subject-matter expertise, with a track record of launching/scaling:
- Detection
- Fraud prevention
- Dispute resolution products that balance customer experience
Experience integrating GenAI and delivering business value
Thrives in a startup environment (fast pace, changing needs, limited resources)
Prior experience in Payments Risk, especially dispute lifecycle management

Nice to Haves

Fintech experience strongly preferred
