Role: Staff Platform Engineer, Fanatics Markets

Fanatics Markets is a real-money prediction and trading app where users predict real-world outcomes and trade events they follow.

What you’ll do

• Set and document enterprise-wide platform and engineering standards, with a focus on AI integration (prompt engineering patterns and validation frameworks).
• Identify and mitigate AI-generated code pitfalls (e.g., security vulnerabilities, over-abstraction) and measure impact using PR velocity and quality metrics.
• Lead the design and evolution of highly available, scalable infrastructure that stays resilient for multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Architect CI/CD ecosystems and developer tooling to reduce delivery friction and improve organization-wide productivity.
• Serve as a platform security SME, implementing safeguards and compliance standards to protect company systems.
• Drive the observability roadmap with monitoring, tracing, and alerting for operational reliability.
• Partner closely with engineering, product, and quantitative teams to translate complex requirements into scalable platform solutions.

Requirements / qualifications

• Staff-level experience with broad organizational impact: setting technical direction, designing durable platform abstractions, and driving cross-team initiatives.
• Deep hands-on engineering expertise with systems thinking and the ability to mentor while still building and operating core platform capabilities.
• Proven experience using AI-augmented development tools in production (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar) rather than only experimentation.
• Strong security and compliance mindset; ability to implement sophisticated platform safeguards.

Nice to have

• Demonstrated expertise in observability architectures and enterprise CI/CD ecosystems.
• Evidence of measurable improvements (e.g., quality/velocity metrics) tied to platform and process enhancements.
