Staff Machine Learning Engineer

Role Overview

Join EvenUp as a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead the development of generative AI models that power core customer experiences and support business growth.

Key Missions

• Lead the development of high-visibility, high-impact generative AI models.
• Design and refine Document AI models for:
  • entity/relationship extraction
  • document structure understanding
  • reasoning from complex legal and medical text
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to ML engineers and data scientists, building a culture of technical excellence and continuous growth.

Responsibilities

• Drive innovation in machine learning through close collaboration with Product, Research, and Engineering leaders.
• Translate complex modeling challenges into operational, deployed solutions.

Requirements

• High proficiency in Python and comfort with modern ML engineering languages and frameworks.
• Deep expertise in ML, NLP, and LLMs, with a proven record of solving complex modeling problems and deploying models operationally.
• Strong grasp of advanced ML techniques such as:
  • deep learning
  • reinforcement learning
  • probabilistic modeling
  • optimization
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• 5+ years of hands-on professional experience in ML engineering or related fields with multiple deployed models.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical strategy, mentor engineers, and execute in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
• PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or another quantitative field.
• Passion for EvenUp’s mission around fairness and accessibility in the legal domain.
