Staff Machine Learning Engineer (AI Generation Engine)

Role Overview

Join SandboxAQ’s AI Generation Engine (SAIGE) team as a Staff Machine Learning Engineer. You will own the end-to-end ML lifecycle, from data exploration and model development to scalable production deployment. This is a hands-on role to build AI-first products using Large Quantitative Models (LQMs) and agentic frameworks.

Key Missions / Responsibilities

• Conception, experimentation, and production deployment of machine learning models.
• Design and manage robust data pipelines for model training and validation.
• Work with AI researchers, product managers, and software engineers to translate business goals into actionable ML roadmaps.
• Drive the full lifecycle: data exploration → hypothesis testing → architecture → training → evaluation → deployment.

Requirements

• BS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• 8+ years post-graduate experience in software development.
• Proven experience building highly available, performant, scalable ML systems and large-scale data processing pipelines.
• Strong MLOps expertise and software best practices, including:
  • CI/CD for ML
  • Experiment tracking (e.g., Weights & Biases, MLflow)
  • Automated testing
  • Version control for both code and datasets
• Strong Python skills with relevant ML stack: PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, NumPy, Pandas.
• Demonstrated history taking ML from conception to production deployment.
• Experience related to financial simulation or technical/risk simulation.

Preferred / Additional

• MS or PhD in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Equivalent experience including tech leadership and cross-collaborative technical execution across teams.
• Experience building scalable software on cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS.
