Staff iOS Engineer

Role overview

As a Staff iOS Engineer on the Mobile Product Engineering team at WeightWatchers, you’ll build and evolve core native features of the WeightWatchers iOS app that support members’ health journeys—from day-to-day tracking to new AI-driven health insights.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve key native iOS app features including:
  • Food tracking
  • Activity logging
  • Weight trends
  • AI-driven health insights
• Deliver premium UI/UX using modern Apple frameworks to keep the app fast, fluid, and intuitive
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and Behavioral Science teams to deliver features that support habit formation and medical weight-loss journeys (including GLP-1 Med+ initiatives)
• Own implementation of flagship initiatives such as:
  • Lock Screen Widgets
  • Live Activities
  • Health data integrations
• Shape iOS architecture and technical standards for a robust, modular, testable codebase
• Operate with high autonomy: challenge assumptions, propose ideas, and champion quality and performance

Requirements

• 12–15+ years of professional iOS development experience
• Strong expertise in Swift and modern Apple frameworks (SwiftUI, Combine or Swift Concurrency, Core Data, etc.)
• Deep knowledge of the iOS SDK, app lifecycle, and memory management
• Familiarity with native tooling and practices:
  • XCTest (unit/UI testing)
  • CI/CD (e.g., Fastlane/GitHub Actions)
  • Feature flagging
• Product-minded approach focused on usability and long-term engagement
• Ability to communicate trade-offs and mentor junior engineers

Nice to have

• Experience with HealthKit or behavior-change-driven apps
• Strong interest in leveraging latest iOS capabilities (WWDC-driven learning)
