About the role

Role Overview

As a Staff Frontend Software Engineer at Skydio, you will lead the development of real-time, high-impact frontend applications used in mission-critical drone operations. You’ll build intuitive, resilient, high-performance interfaces for drone pilots, first responders, and mission commanders, and help shape the future of drones as critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of real-time frontend applications for drone pilots and first responders
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver complex, integrated features from concept to production
  • Partner with autonomy teams and iterate using in-field feedback
  • Design and build scalable systems focused on performance, reliability, and usability

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience building and shipping customer-facing frontend applications
  • Demonstrated ability to work across teams to deliver complex, integrated features from concept to production
  • Strong product intuition and empathy for users operating in high-stakes environments
  • Expertise in modern web development: React, TypeScript, GraphQL, WebGL/Three.js
  • Experience with geospatial data visualization (e.g., Mapbox, Cesium, or similar)

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with photogrammetry/scanning/mapping/rendering pipelines
  • Exposure to autonomy/robotics platforms
  • Experience integrating frontend with cloud-based services such as AWS, Temporal, Kubernetes
