Staff Frontend Platform Engineer | Unicorn HealthTech | $190K + Equity

Role Overview

Staff Frontend Platform Engineer for a remote-first, venture-backed technology company building frontend platform foundations used by millions. The role is focused on platform engineering, design systems, and developer experience (not feature delivery).

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve a cross-platform design system across web and mobile
• Build and scale shared component libraries, design tokens, and frontend tooling
• Drive frontend architecture decisions and engineering standards
• Lead modernization initiatives across React, TypeScript, and build tooling
• Improve developer experience via tooling, automation, CI/CD, and AI-assisted workflows
• Partner with Design, Product, and Engineering leadership
• Mentor engineers and elevate frontend best practices across the organization

Requirements

• 8+ years of frontend engineering experience
• Strong expertise in React and TypeScript
• Experience building/scaling design systems and/or shared component libraries
• Proven frontend architecture and platform ownership experience
• Experience with developer tooling and frontend developer enablement
• Exposure to React Native and mobile platforms
• Familiarity with Storybook, Figma, accessibility, and frontend tooling
• Comfortable mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction
• Interest in AI-assisted development and modern engineering productivity tools

Nice to Have

• WCAG accessibility experience
• Internationalization/localization
• Experience in SaaS, HealthTech, HRTech, or other high-growth product companies
• Experience working on platform/infrastructure/developer enablement teams

Compensation

• $140,000–$190,000 base + equity
