About the role

Role Overview

Staff Frontend Engineer at Vetcove, leading the architecture and evolution of the user-facing experience across the company’s platforms. You will own critical frontend systems used daily by veterinary professionals and pet parents, shaping how the applications scale in performance, usability, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of large-scale frontend applications (web and mobile)
Build and evolve high-performance React and React Native applications
Define and enforce frontend best practices, including:
- performance optimization
- accessibility
- maintainability
Develop and maintain shared component libraries, design systems, and frontend infrastructure
Improve application performance, reliability, and user experience
Partner with product, design, and backend teams to deliver cohesive, user-centered features
Mentor junior frontend engineers and influence technical direction across multiple product areas
Debug and resolve complex frontend and cross-stack issues

Requirements

8+ years of software engineering experience with strong frontend focus
Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks, especially React
Experience architecting and scaling complex frontend applications/systems
Strong understanding of performance optimization, state management, and frontend architecture patterns
Experience building and maintaining design systems or shared component libraries
Solid understanding of APIs and backend interactions (e.g., REST, GraphQL)
Proven ability to lead projects and mentor engineers
Strong communication skills and a product-oriented mindset

Nice to Haves

Familiarity with Claude/Cursor to streamline frontend best practices
Mobile development experience (React Native or similar)
Bachelor’s degree required (CS or technical degree preferred)
