About the role

Role Overview

Staff Frontend Engineer at Vetcove, leading the architecture and evolution of user-facing experiences across the company’s platforms. You’ll own critical frontend systems used daily by veterinary professionals and pet parents, spanning clinical workflows through patient care tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture, design, and delivery of large-scale frontend applications across web and mobile
  • Build and evolve high-performance React and React Native applications
  • Define and enforce frontend best practices (performance optimization, accessibility, maintainability)
  • Develop shared component libraries, design systems, and frontend infrastructure to improve engineering velocity
  • Improve application performance, reliability, and user experience
  • Partner with product, design, and backend teams to deliver cohesive, user-centered features
  • Mentor junior frontend engineers and influence technical direction/strategy across product areas
  • Debug and resolve complex frontend and cross-stack issues

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong frontend focus
  • Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks, especially React
  • Experience architecting and scaling complex frontend applications and systems
  • Strong understanding of performance optimization, state management, and frontend architecture patterns
  • Experience building/maintaining design systems or shared component libraries
  • Strong communication skills and a product-oriented mindset

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Claude/Cursor to streamline frontend best practices
  • React Native (or similar) mobile development experience
  • Solid understanding of APIs and backend interactions such as REST and GraphQL
  • Degree in CS or technical field (bachelor’s required)
