Staff Frontend Engineer, Stripe Dashboard

Role Overview

Staff Frontend Engineer on Stripe’s Merchant Experience team, focused on the Stripe Dashboard and other merchant-facing UI platforms. You’ll lead technical strategy, drive quality and performance improvements, and help define how AI-powered merchant experiences fit into core workflows.

Responsibilities

• Define technical strategy for merchant-facing experiences with emphasis on quality, performance, and AI integration.
• Lead the design and delivery of complex, cross-team projects that improve reliability, responsiveness, and UI polish.
• Establish and champion a quality-first engineering culture (standards, tooling, processes) to make high-quality, performant UI the default.
• Treat performance as a product feature: own technical approach for making the Dashboard and merchant tools best-in-class (instrumentation, performance budgets, architectural improvements).
• Innovate on future merchant UX by exploring and prototyping AI-powered workflows (discovery, configuration, operation) beyond traditional dashboards.
• Build platforms and abstractions to improve engineer productivity (frameworks, components, developer tools capturing best practices).
• Partner with Product, Design, AI/ML, and infrastructure to turn vision into a concrete technical roadmap.
• Mentor and grow engineers, raising the technical bar and strengthening a culture of craftsmanship.

Requirements (Minimum)

• 10–15+ years of industry experience (expected scope includes overseeing 4–6 teams and owning a product portfolio).
• Experience building and shipping complex, user-facing web applications at large scale (hundreds of thousands of users) or with contributions from hundreds of engineers.
• Track record leading large-scale, cross-functional engineering projects with broad org impact.
