Staff Frontend Engineer, Stripe Dashboard

Role Overview

Staff Frontend Engineer (Stripe Dashboard) on the Merchant Experience team. You’ll be a technical leader shaping how Stripe merchants interact with core product surfaces, driving step-function improvements in UI quality and performance while helping define AI-native merchant experiences.

Responsibilities

• Define technical strategy for merchant-facing experiences, focusing on quality, performance, and AI integration into core workflows.
• Lead the design and delivery of complex, cross-team projects that improve reliability, responsiveness, and UI polish.
• Promote a quality-first engineering culture by establishing standards, tooling, and processes for high-quality, performant UI.
• Treat performance as a product feature: own the technical approach to making the Dashboard and merchant tools best-in-class (instrumentation, performance budgets, and architecture).
• Innovate on future merchant UX by exploring and prototyping how AI can transform discovery, configuration, and operation beyond traditional dashboard paradigms.
• Build platforms and abstractions to improve engineer productivity (frameworks, components, developer tools that encode best practices).
• Partner with Product, Design, AI/ML, and infrastructure to translate vision into a concrete technical roadmap.
• Mentor and grow engineers across the organization, raising the technical bar and fostering craftsmanship.

Requirements

• Senior Staff scope expected to oversee the work of 4–6 teams and own an entire portfolio of products.
• 10–15+ years of experience (expected for most candidates).
• Experience building and shipping complex user-facing web applications at large scale (hundreds of thousands of users) or via contributions from large engineering groups.
• Track record leading large-scale, cross-functional engineering projects with broad organizational impact.
