Staff Frontend Engineer

Role overview

Magnit is seeking a Staff Frontend Engineer to own the frontend and shape the product experience of Magnit Pulse as it scales from MVP to broad commercial adoption. This is a hands-on, senior product-builder role owning the client-facing surface end to end.

Responsibilities

• Own Pulse frontend architecture and delivery across Microsoft Teams and Slack applications, from component design through production
• Translate ambiguous product goals into clear, shippable experiences, defining flows, edge cases, and rollout plans with design and product
• Build and maintain a reusable component and design system to keep the experience consistent and accelerate delivery
• Design API contracts and a frontend service layer, connecting the UI to platform services using Node.js, GraphQL, and REST
• Raise the bar on quality via testing, accessibility, performance work, telemetry, and controlled rollouts
• Contribute to product decisions (what and why), not just execution
• Mentor engineers and establish frontend standards and patterns

Requirements

• 10+ years building production frontend and full-stack systems
• Deep expertise in React and TypeScript and modern frontend architecture
• Strong backend/API fluency with Node.js, GraphQL, and REST, able to own the path from UI to service contract
• Strong design sensibility and experience partnering with designers to ship polished interfaces
• Experience taking products from early stage to scale, including product judgment on what to build now vs defer
• Comfort with experimentation, observability, CI/CD, and phased releases in production
• Product-builder mindset focused on customer outcomes and business results

Nice-to-haves / Bonus points

• Experience with Angular, Vue, or Next.js
• Experience building for Microsoft Teams / Slack (embedded app platforms)
• Experience with AI/LLM-driven experiences (e.g., streaming output, workflow tooling)
• Background in regulated or high-throughput domains (fintech, trading, enterprise workforce platforms)
• Founder/early-stage experience or history of owning a product surface end to end

Compensation

• $160,000 - $187,000 (based on experience, qualifications, credentials, and location)
