Staff Frontend Engineer for Reddit’s Ads Creative & Recommendations team. You will set technical direction for the next generation of Reddit’s advertiser tools, leading ambiguous, multi-quarter initiatives across teams to deliver measurable product and engineering impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical strategy and delivery of complex, multi-quarter frontend initiatives across Ads Manager.
  • Define and drive frontend architecture standards that scale across products and codebases.
  • Build shared components and patterns, and drive design-system adoption to reduce monorepo fragmentation.
  • Maintain a high bar for frontend quality across UX and underlying systems.
  • Partner early with product and design to shape direction, clarify ambiguous problems, and make tradeoffs.
  • Align teams and influence technical decisions beyond your immediate organization.
  • Define success metrics, instrument experiences, and guide investment/iteration using experiments and product data.
  • Mentor senior engineers via technical guidance and design/code reviews.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with frontend, backend, data, and machine learning to deliver end-to-end reliability.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years software engineering experience; deep production experience with React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
  • Proven ability to lead ambiguous, multi-quarter initiatives across teams with measurable product/engineering impact.
  • Expertise designing scalable frontend architectures in large codebases/monorepos.
  • Experience building shared component patterns and contributing to/operating within design systems.
  • Strong judgment across state management, API integration, testing, performance, accessibility, security, and reliability.
  • Strong collaboration with product/design to translate complex requirements into clear user experiences.
  • Excellent communication skills to build alignment and influence across disciplines.
  • Experience with instrumentation, experimentation, and product metrics.
  • Experience mentoring senior engineers and raising the technical bar through reviews.
  • Comfortable using agentic coding tools such as Codex, Cursor, or Claude.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building advertising, campaign management, or creative tools.
