About the role

Role Overview

Staff Frontend Engineer for Reddit’s Ads Creative & Recommendations team. You will set technical direction for the next generation of Reddit’s advertiser tools, leading ambiguous, multi-quarter initiatives across teams to deliver measurable product and engineering impact.

Responsibilities

Lead technical strategy and delivery of complex, multi-quarter frontend initiatives across Ads Manager.
Define and drive frontend architecture standards that scale across products and codebases.
Build shared components and patterns, and drive design-system adoption to reduce monorepo fragmentation.
Maintain a high bar for frontend quality across UX and underlying systems.
Partner early with product and design to shape direction, clarify ambiguous problems, and make tradeoffs.
Align teams and influence technical decisions beyond your immediate organization.
Define success metrics, instrument experiences, and guide investment/iteration using experiments and product data.
Mentor senior engineers via technical guidance and design/code reviews.
Collaborate cross-functionally with frontend, backend, data, and machine learning to deliver end-to-end reliability.

Required Qualifications

10+ years software engineering experience; deep production experience with React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
Proven ability to lead ambiguous, multi-quarter initiatives across teams with measurable product/engineering impact.
Expertise designing scalable frontend architectures in large codebases/monorepos.
Experience building shared component patterns and contributing to/operating within design systems.
Strong judgment across state management, API integration, testing, performance, accessibility, security, and reliability.
Strong collaboration with product/design to translate complex requirements into clear user experiences.
Excellent communication skills to build alignment and influence across disciplines.
Experience with instrumentation, experimentation, and product metrics.
Experience mentoring senior engineers and raising the technical bar through reviews.
Comfortable using agentic coding tools such as Codex, Cursor, or Claude.

Nice to Have

Experience building advertising, campaign management, or creative tools.
