Staff Experience Designer

Role Overview

Join Airbnb as a Staff Experience Designer. You’ll collaborate across disciplines to create innovative, user-friendly products, oversee multiple initiatives, influence leadership decisions, and mentor a team of designers.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to define problems, map user flows, prototype interactions, and launch new products and services.
• Lead initiatives end-to-end: from insight and strategy to launch across platforms and devices, while ensuring high design standards.
• Provide indirect leadership and mentorship to designers; guide complex problem solving autonomously.
• Help teams navigate ambiguity by setting vision and strategy for global products.

Requirements

• Systems thinking with the ability to design beyond UI (“beyond the pixels”), including offline experiences.
• Strong storytelling, presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience designing platforms and systems.
• Ability to manage and collaborate with research and writing disciplines.
• Proven ability to motivate and drive small to medium teams.
• Ability to make complex information, tools, and services easy to understand.
• Ability to define design direction/process and lead others through it.
• Experience in 0-to-1 work or redesigning major elements of a product/service.
• Strong ability to scope your work and that of teammates.
• Excellent visual and interaction design craft.
