Staff Engineer Platform Engineering

Role Overview

Staff Engineer, Platform Engineering at HighLevel. You will shape the foundation of the platform by designing and building shared frameworks, libraries, and core services used across products at scale. You’ll operate as a deeply technical engineering leader, taking extreme ownership of critical platform initiatives and driving engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain reusable frameworks, SDKs, and core platform services using Node.js and Go.
• Build scalable, cloud-native solutions leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Design and optimize systems for large-scale data and high-throughput workloads.
• Lead high-performance service architecture with strong reliability and observability.
• Own technical design reviews, set engineering best practices, and mentor senior engineers.
• Drive architectural decisions for scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Partner cross-functionally (product, infrastructure, engineering) to deliver reliable platform capabilities.
• Improve developer productivity via internal tooling, shared libraries, and scalable engineering foundations.
• Lead initiatives leveraging AI in engineering workflows (code generation, testing, developer tooling, incident analysis, SDLC automation).
• Build/evolve systems and processes that improve SDLC efficiency, release velocity, reliability, and developer experience.

Requirements

• 9+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated success building distributed systems or large-scale systems.
• Proven ability to design and build highly scalable, complex distributed systems.

• Experience with AI-powered development workflows and automation of parts of the SDLC.
• Strong technical leadership in architecture, reliability, and observability.
